South Sudan have been drawn against Algeria in the preliminary round of The 2020 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The preliminary round fixtures released during Wednesday’s draw in Cairo to a record 29 participating teams by Caf.
It should be noted that this will first time that South Sudan football association fronts a team for the women’ for the U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
This week, SSFA withdraw from the upcoming CECAFA women’ U-17 challenge cup due to failure to pay 20,000USD a facilitation fee requested for by the host federation (FUFA).
With the economy of the country biting, it’s not yet clear whether the team will participate in the qualifiers.
In the other fixtures Uganda plays Tanzania, Burundi battles Ethiopia, Egypt faces Morocco while Zambia host South Africa.
South Sudan hosts the first leg with Algeria hosting the return leg. The first league of the qualifiers are to be played between 17, 18, 19 January 2020 with return leagues between 31 to 2 of February 2020.
